January 11, 2011NEW ODG MOBILE PRO FROM WORK LOSS DATA INSTITUTE Encinitas, CA – Work Loss Data Institute (www.worklossdata.com) today announced the release of ODG Mobile Pro, a mobile Web application for Official Disability Guidelines (ODG), WLDI’s widely successful, evidence-based medical treatment, utilization review, and disability duration guidelines in its 17th year of publication. Designed for use on all the leading mobile devices, including the iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, iPad and other tablets, plus traditional desktop and laptop Macs and PCs, this platform independent, touchscreen interface provides handheld access to the ODG treatment and return-to-work guidelines for over 2,200 procedures & drug therapies and all 10,000 diagnoses, covering 99% of treatment requests seen in workers’ comp plus a growing contingent of group health. In trademark fashion, the ODG recommendations, based on a comprehensive and ongoing medical literature review, are sourced directly to the supporting evidence – about 6,000 citations – provided in abstract form, with links to the National Library of Medicine (PubMED) providing transparency and accountability. Additional functionality includes secure email capability, to capture and deliver the ODG guidelines to third parties for the purpose of securing or administering authorization for care. Forms are built into the email function so that transmissions from the provider may be designated as requests for Preauthorization, Concurrent Review, or Reconsideration of Denial, while payer, TPA and URO transmissions can be designated as Approval, Conditional Approval, or Denial. Customization by state is forthcoming. Targeting healthcare providers, case managers, UR agents, peer reviewers and independent medical examiners, the objective of ODG Mobile Pro is to leverage the explosion of smartphones and tablets to connect the payer and provider and ensure further penetration of evidence-based medicine (EBM) in workers’ comp, not just on the back-end through utilization review, as has been the precedent for EBM treatment guidelines, but on the front-end, in providers making decisions to test, treat, scan, image, operate, medicate, or manipulate. “The only way to achieve real and lasting cost-savings in workers’ comp is through the delivery of quality and timely care; this we’ve known for a long time” says Phil LeFevre, Senior Account Executive with Work Loss Data Institute, “but this is dependent on limiting uncertainty, ambiguity, adversity, delays and disputes in the payer-provider relationship. The extension of ODG into the mobile universe is the perfect vehicle to do that, using the ODG guidelines as a roadmap for common ground in treatment and reimbursement determinations, framing prior authorization, pre-authorization, utilization review and medical management transactions around evidence-based medicine.” Technology partner to WLDI in the initiative is Symphony 3, led by David Iskowe and his team of engineers. David is a founder of both FOCUS Healthcare and EnableComp, an Advisory Board member of ODG, and longtime advocate. “When we choose a project to dedicate our energy to, it is typically of major enduring value. Building a technology platform with ODG, making EBM easily accessible and communicable to all, is a commitment we believe is of extraordinary importance. We are redefining the starting line for pre-authorization in workers’ comp”, said David Iskowe. More information can be found at www.odg-disability.com/mobilepro.htm. The cost is $149 for a single-user or $99 for existing ODG subscribers. Quantity and sponsorship discounts are also available. As with all ODG products, subscription is backed by a 30-day risk-free trial period. Work Loss Data Institute is an independent database development company focused on workplace health and productivity based in Encinitas, California. The ODG product line provides evidence-based medical treatment, utilization review and disability duration guidelines available in Web-based, textbook and systems integration formats to improve and benchmark outcomes in workers’ comp, auto, group health and STD/LTD cases.
